South Korean display manufacturer LG Display recently announced that LG Display will showcase a variety of real-life scenarios using transparent OLED at the 2021 International Consumer Electronics Show online exhibition. It is understood that LG Display is currently the only company in the world that mass-produces transparent OLEDs. Transparent OLEDs do not require a backlight. Using the advantages of self-luminescence, the transparency can be increased to 40%. The transparency of transparent LCD is only 10%. Transparent OLED can provide transparent and clear picture quality like glass. At this exhibition, a variety of scenes will be displayed through three transparent OLED exhibition areas such as smart home, subway, and restaurants.
Among them, in the smart home exhibition area, the “Smart Bed” that combines a bed with a transparent OLED in the general household will be displayed. According to different needs, the transparent OLED built into the bed frame can present weather conditions through multiple screen ratios or allow users to watch TV and movies. In addition, the bed frame with built-in transparent OLED can be separated separately and moved to any place around the house.
In the subway exhibition area, you can see the use of high-transparency transparent OLED as subway windows, which not only allows passengers to enjoy the beautiful scenery outside, but also can grasp the subway route and information of various regions. The display concept of the restaurant exhibition area is to show scenes that are not affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. It is displayed in the restaurant with transparent OLED partitions between the guests and the chef. While going through the menu, you can watch sports events to wait for the dishes.
