Google has launched the final update of Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

After three years of updates, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL officially reached the end of life status in October. Google promised to release the last version, but did not release it with Pixel Feature Drop yesterday. The final update for Pixel 2 is now available.
12/14 Update: The “Check for Updates” screen now offers the December OTA for Pixel 2. As Google reiterated, this “final software update” only sells 8.71 MB (for 2 XL).
After installation, “Check for Updates” will look exactly the same as before, but you still need to pay attention to the October 5 security update. However, you can confirm the RP1A.201005.004.A1 internal version number from the bottom of “Settings”> “About Phone”.
12/10 update: Google confirmed to us today that the final version of Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be released as an over-the-air update, and the process will continue until next week. The reason for this is that most users have not encountered an OTA two days after the release of the factory image, and there is no update button to click.
Original 12/8: Similar to the first Pixel phone, Pixel 2 skipped the November update, but now has the patch from last month and the patch launched in December as part of a final version. Only factory images for manual installation are now available (you can also check our guide here). The OTA has not yet reached the device.
“Settings”> “System”> “Advanced”> “System Update” still shows “Regular update for this device has ended”, but in the implementation process, it should be changed to the regular “Check for Update” button.
The latest version of these two devices is RP1A.201005.004.A1, and all operators have only one version:
Since its first release in September, it has been solving Android 11 issues, so it is an important fix. For example, Google proposed in October:
In other words, Pixel 2 does not have any Pixel Feature Drop features in December. These new features are limited to Pixel 3 and later versions.
Google Pixel 2 is the company’s second attempt to manufacture its own hardware. Although the phone did undergo minor design changes, it has more advantages in terms of specifications than the 2016 model
